When we compare our lives to the deaths of the martyrs centuries ago, our Christian faith really pales in comparison.  Saints long ago "loved not their lives unto the death" that they were literally beaten, mutilated, whipped, burned, crucified, maimed, raped, and torn apart by wild beasts.  All they had to do was deny their Savior, but they would not.  Today, Christians sin against Christ every moment without a single scratch from the devil.  Maybe if they were to look back at the stories of the faithful martyrs, then perhaps they can be challenged and changed.  Despite of the fire of persecution throughout the centuries, the Lord's people withstood the flames and came out more brilliant and radiant than fine gold.  Oh to God that their golden testimonies enrich and touch the hearts of cold churches today.

1 Peter 1:7-8

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

  1. Violence Out of the Fire
  2. Vessels Out of the Fire
  3. Victory Out of the Fire
