What Does the Koran Really Say? PDF Print E-mail

Why do some Muslims (not all) use physical force and some of them do not? The reason is because some of the Muslims seriously practice what they believe from the Koran as follows:

[NOTE: Christians and others who claim God is the Messiah are infidels. “Infidels now are they who say, ‘Verily God is the Messiah, Son of Mary;’ for the Messiah said, ‘O children of Israel! Worship God, my Lord and your Lord.’ Whoever shall join other gods with God, God shall forbid him the Garden, and his abode shall be the Fire; and the wicked shall have no helpers. They surely are Infidels who say, ‘God is the third of three:’ for there is no God but one God: and if they refrain not from what they say, a grievous chastisement shall light on such of them as are Infidels. Will they not, therefore, be turned unto God, and ask pardon of Him? Since God is Forgiving, Merciful!” (Koran 5:17)]

Allah sends prophets to spread terrorism. “We send not a prophet with miracles but to strike terror” (Koran 17:59).
Allah commands Muslims to “strike terror” in the hearts of Islam’s enemies. “Make ready then against them what force ye can, and strong squadrons whereby ye may strike terror into the enemy of God and your enemy” (Koran 8:60).
Every believing Muslim must join in this war against the unbelievers and even neighbors. “Believers! Wage war against such of the infidels (unbelievers) as are your neighbors, and let them find you rigorous” (Koran 9:123).
Terrorism has proven a successful weapon for Muslims. “He it is who caused the unbelievers among the people of the Book to quit their homes and join those who had EMIGRATED previously? Ye did not think that they would quit them; and they on their part thought that their fortresses would protect them against God: But God came upon them whence they looked not for Him, and cast such fear into their hearts that by their own hands as well as by the hands of the victorious believers they demolished their houses!” (Koran 59:2)
Muslim believers are to cut off the heads and fingers of unbelievers. “Strike off their heads then, and strike off from them every finger-tip. This, because they have opposed God and his apostle” (Koran 8:12-14).
Muslims must never make peace, even when they hold the upperhand. “Be not fainthearted then; and invite not the infidels to peace when ye have the upperhand: for God is with you, and will not defraud you of the recompense of your works” (Koran 43:35-38).

Allah orders you to fight until every unbeliever worships Allah alone. “Fight therefore against them until there be no more civil discord, and the only worship be that of God” (Koran 2:193). “Fight against them till strife be at an end, and the religion be all of it God’s” (Koran 8:39).
A war should be carried out against unbelievers and hypocrites. “O Prophet! Make war on the infidels (unbelievers) and hypocrites, and deal rigorously with them.” (Koran 66:9)
Christians and Jews must be fought and killed. “Make war upon such of those to whom the Scriptures have been given as believe not in God, or in the last day, and who forbid not that which God and His Apostle have forbidden, and who profess not the profession of the truth, until they pay tribute out of hand? And they be humbled. The Jews say, ‘Ezra (Ozair) is a son of God’; and the Christians say, ‘The Messiah is a son of God.’ Such the sayings in their mouths! They resemble the saying of the Infidels of old! God do battle with them! How are they misguided! They take their teachers, and their monks, and the Messiah, son of Mary, for Lords beside God, though bidden to worship one God only. There is no God but He!” (Koran 9:29-30)
Those who leave the Islamic religion must be killed. “They desire that ye should be infidels as they are infidels and that ye should be alike. Take therefore none of them friends, till they have fled their homes for the cause God. If they turn back, then seize them, and slay them wherever ye find them” (Koran 4:91).

Fighting gains you a reward of great value. “Let those then fight on the path of God, who barter this present life for that which is to come; for whoever fighteth on God’s path, whether he be slain or conquer, we will in the end give him a great reward” (Koran 4:74).
Cutting off the heads of unbelievers assures you of Paradise. “When ye encounter the infidels (unbelievers), strike off their heads till ye have made a great slaughter among them,…And whoso fight for the cause of God, their works he will not suffer to miscarry; He will vouchsafe them guidance, and dispose their hearts aright; And he will bring them into the Paradise, of which he hath told them” (Koran 47:4-6).
Fighting wins you astonishing victories over your enemies. “O prophet! Stir up the faithful to the fight. Twenty of you who stand firm shall vanquish two hundred: and if there be a hundred of you they shall vanquish a thousand of the infidels, for they are a people devoid of understanding” (Koran 8:65).
You win the love of Allah when you fight for his cause. “Verily God loveth those who, as though they were a solid wall, do battle for his cause in serried lines!” (Koran 61:4).

Those who turn back from fighting the unbelievers will burn in hell. “O ye who believe! When ye meet the marshaled hosts of the infidels (unbelievers), turn not your backs tot hem: Whoso shall turn his back to them on that day, unless he turn aside to fight, or to rally to some other troop, shall incur wrath from God: Hell shall be his abode and wretched the journey thither! So it was not ye who slew them, but God slew them; and those shafts were God’s, not thine!” (Koran 8:15-19)
Those who reject fighting in war for Allah are not true believers who actually fear men, rather than Allah. “They who believe, fight on the path of God…Hast thou not marked those to whom it was said, ‘Withhold your hands awhile from war; and observe prayer, and pay the stated alms.’ But when war is commanded them, lo! A portion of them fear men as with the fear of God, or with a yet greater fear, and say: ‘O our Lord! Why has thou commanded us war? Couldst thou not have given us respite till our not distant end?’ SAY: Small the fruition of this world; but the next life is the true good for him who feareth God! And ye shall not be wronged so much as the skin of a date stone” (Koran 4:76-77).
Muslims who make friends with Christians, Jews, and other unbelievers lose their hope from Allah. “O Believers take not the Jews or Christians as friends” (Koran 5:51). “Let not believers take infidels (unbelievers) for their friends rather than believers: whoso shall do this hath nothing to hope from God” (Koran 3:28).
Those who do not go to war for Allah must not receive compassion from fellow Muslims and go to Hell. “They who were left at home were delighted to stay behind God’s Apostle, and were averse from contending with their riches and their persons for the cause of God, and said, ‘March not out in the heat.’ Say: A fiercer heat will be the fire of Hell.’ Would that they understood this. Little, therefore, let them laugh, and much let them weep, as the meed of their doings! If God bring thee back from the fight to some of them, and they ask thy leave to take the field, Say: By no means shall ye ever take the field with me, and by no means shall ye fight an enemy with me: ye were well pleased to sit at home at the first crisis: sit ye at home, then, with those who lag behind. Never pray thou over anyone of them who dieth, or stand a this grave—because they believed not in God and His Apostle, and died in their wickedness. Let not their riches or their children astonish thee: through these God is fain only to punish them in this world, and that their souls should depart while they are still infidels” (Koran 9:81-84).
Those who do not go to war for Allah will miss Heaven. “When a Sura was sent down with ‘Believe in God and go forth to war with His Apostle,’ and those of them who are possessed of riches demanded exemption and said, ‘Allow us to be with those who sit at home. Well content were they to be with those who stay behind: for a seal hath been set on their hearts so that they understand not:--But the Apostle and those who share his faith, contend for the faith with purse and person; and these! All good things await them: and these are they who shall be happy. God hath made ready for them garden’s neath which the rivers flow, wherein they shall remain for ever: this will be the great bliss” (Koran 9:85-89).

There are some Muslims who sincerely believe their religion is just as peaceable as Christianity. They claim the Christian Bible shows that God demanded the Israelites to slay the various tribes in Canaan. But God commanded the Israelites to slay their enemies, because the land of Israel belonged to them, not to the other tribes (Gen. 15:18-21; Deut. 7:1-2). It is common throughout history that nations, including America, have fought for their rights to their lands. Christians are not the same as Muslims in terrorism, because the Bible commands Christians to treat their enemies well (Rom. 12:20-21) while the Koran commands Muslims to slay their enemies.

Some of those Muslims claim that the Koran says Muslims fight against those who fight first. Muslims are not to attack others first. “Fight for the cause of God against those who fight against you: but commit not the injustice of attacking them first” (Koran 2:190). However, the next verses from context easily reveal that non-violence is only during the holy months in Mecca. “The sacred month and the sacred precincts are under the safeguard of reprisals: whoever offereth violence to you, offer ye the like violence to him, and fear God, and know that God is with those who fear Him. Give freely for the cause of God, and throw not yourselves with your own hands into ruin; and do good, for God loveth those who do good. Accomplish the Pilgrimage and the Visitation of the holy places in honour of God: and if ye be hemmed in by foes, send whatever offering shall be the easiest: and shave not your heads until the offering reach the place of sacrifice” (Koran 2:194-198). So, Koran 2 is not a good passage to show that Islam is for peace when many other chapters in the Koran actually support violent methods.

In conclusion, I pray that there are Muslims who will take the points of this article to heart and come to the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. The God of Christianity loved every Muslim that He died for their sins so that they can be with Him in Heaven. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Christians are not to hate Muslims, but rather care for their souls and are commanded by the Bible to treat their enemies well (Romans 12:20-21). Will you come to Christ Jesus for salvation?
