1) Five contrary accounts of Adam’s creation:

• By dry dust:
“Verily, Jesus is as Adam in the sight of God. He created him of dust: He then said to him, ‘Be’—and he was” (Koran 3:59).

• By liquid water:
“By means of water we gave life to everything” (Koran 21:30). “And it is He who hath created man of water” (Koran 25:54).

• By a blood clot:
“Thy Lord who created, Created man from clots of blood” (Koran 96:1).

• By dry clay:
“We created man of dry clay” (Koran 15:26).

• By a moist germ:
“Man hath He created from a moist germ” (Koran 16:4).

2) Does Allah forgive idolatry?

• Yes. “Then took the calf as the object of their worship, after that our clear tokens had come to them; but we forgave them this” (Koran 4:153).
• No. “God will not forgive the union of other gods with Himself!” (Koran 4:48)

3) Can the words of Allah be changed?

• Yes. “Whatever verses we cancel, or cause thee to forget, we bring a better or its like” (Koran 2:106).
• No. “What! Shall I seek other judge than God, when it is He who hath sent down to you the distinguishing Book? They to whom we have given the Book know that it is sent down from thy Lord with truth. Be not thou then of those who doubt. And the words of thy Lord are perfect in truth and in justice: none can change his words” (Koran 6:116).

4) Should Muslims force people to join Islam?

• Yes. “Fight therefore against them until there be no more civil discord, and the only worship be that of God” (Koran 2:193).
• No. “Let there be no compulsion in religion” (Koran 2:256).

5) Who was the first Muslim?

• Muhammad. “And I (Muhammad) am commanded to be the first of those
who bow to Allah in Islam” (Koran 39:12).
• Moses. “And when God manifested Himself to the mountain he turned
it to dust! And Moses fell in a swoon. And when he came to himself, he said, ‘Glory be to thee! To thee do I turn in penitence, and I am the first of them that believe” (Koran 7:143).
• Abraham and his children. “And this to his children did Abraham bequeath,
and Jacob also, saying, ‘O my children! Truly God hath chosen a religion for you; so die not unless ye be also Muslims” (Koran 2:132).

6) Did Pharaoh drown in the Red Sea?

• Yes. “Pharaoh sought to drive them out of the land; but we drowned him”
(Koran 17:103). “And he (Pharaoh) inspired his people with levity, and they obeyed him; for they were a perverse people: And when they had angered us, we took vengeance on them, and we drowned them all” (Koran 43:55).
• No. “And we led the children of Israel through the sea; and Pharaoh and his
hosts followed them in eager and hostile sort until, when the drowning overtook him. He said, ‘I believe that there is no God but he on whom the children of Israel believe, and I am one of the Muslims.’ ‘Yes, now,’ said God: ‘but thou hast been rebellious hitherto, and wast one of the wicked doers. But this day will we rescue thee with thy body that thou mayest be a sign to those who shall be after thee: but truly, most men are of our signs regardless!” (Koran 10:90-92)

7) Was the Kaba (the temple in Mecca) the first temple ever built?

• Yes. “The first temple that was founded for mankind, was that in Mecca,—
Blessed and a guidance to human beings” (Koran 3:97).
• No. This completely contradicts history and many archaeological proofs. For
just one example, Dutch archaeologists, during excavations at Tel Ibrahim Awad in the eastern Nile Delta, discovered a large Middle Kingdom temple. Beneath this building, which dates from around 2000 BC, there were traces of five earlier temples, the earliest dating back to around 3100 BC (http://www. library.cornell.edu/colldev/mideast/predns.htm). This is at least as old as the oldest temple previously discovered, namely at Hierakonpolis.

8) Is wine the handiwork of Satan?

• Yes. “O believers! Surely wine and games of chance, and statues, and the
divining arrows, are an abomination of Satan’s work! Avoid them, that ye may prosper. Only would Satan sow hatred and strife among you, by wine and games of chance, and turn you aside from the remembrance of God, and from prayer: will ye not, therefore, abstain from them?” (Koran 5:90)
• No. “A picture of the Paradise which is promised to the God-fearing! Therein are rivers of water, which corrupt not: rivers of milk, whose taste changeth not: and rivers of wine” (Koran 47:16).
